About the Entrance Exam

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is a highly competitive national-level undergraduate admission test administered across India and several international centers. Conducted in two sessions (typically January and April), the exam provides multiple optimization attempts for engineering aspirants to improve their scores within the same academic cycle. The evaluation standard consists of three main papers: Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech, Paper 2A for B.Arch, and Paper 2B for B.Planning.

Registration Process

The registration framework operates entirely online through the official NTA candidate portal, requiring Aadhaar-linked verification for identity protection.

Required Documents:

  • Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have passed or be actively appearing in Class 12 or its equivalent. There is no structural age limit bar enforced by NTA.
  • Subject Requirements: Applicants must have selected Physics and Mathematics as mandatory core subjects along with Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or technical vocational choices.
  • Documentation Pack: Candidates are required to upload passport photographs, digital signatures, category proofs (if applicable), and active academic details.
  • Application Fee: Registration processing requires online fee payment for a single paper (1000 for General Male, 800 for General Female, 900 for EWS/OBC-NCL Male, 800 for EWS/OBC-NCL Female, and 500 for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates).
